I pay for my kids’ school lunches, you know. And I don’t mind having some of my tax money going towards hot lunches for poor kids, although the nutritionists picking out those lunches should be forced to only eat what they recommend. Republican heroes go after horrible, Democratic-imposed, school lunch restrictions.
Although the Hill’s title – “GOP has knives out for school lunch rules” – is accurate enough. The GOP does have the knives out: “First lady Michelle Obama’s signature school lunch regulations are coming under fresh fire from GOP lawmakers, who view impending reauthorization legislation as their best chance yet to dial back the controversial nutrition standards.” …and, do you know why? Because those rules are sadistic, pointless, and not feeding our kids properly. Reps. Glenn Grothman of Wisconsin and Dave Brat of Virginia – and yes, even Sen. Pat Roberts of Nebraska – should be commended for pushing back on the Democrats’ frankly bizarre and ill-planned attempts to use our kids’ schools to push dubious nutrition ‘science’ policies.

So, this goes out to the researchers trying to work out why there was a sudden and dramatic anti-Democratic surge in your 21 to 28 voting population, well, it’s because of stuff like this:
A chicken patty, small scoop of mashed potatoes and carton of milk aren’t enough to sustain a high school boy.
But under the school lunch regulations championed by First Lady Michelle Obama, that’s what Haskell High School served recently.
Haskell High School senior Darrel Bunch took a photo of one of his recent skimpy school lunches and sent it to Fox 23.
“It’s mostly the portions,” Bunch says. “Last year we started getting less food.”
