I like Mister Spirit. I’m starting to discover that this can have pernicious effects for a character, though.

02/14/2020 Snippet, THE LAST RAYGUN IN THE WORLD.

I didn’t exactly want to work on this, but I had the title pop into my head when I was dropping off my youngest and then I figured it’d be a good idea to at least get the opening stuff out. It may end up going into the short story collection, at that. Or not. It’s all up in the air!

This one is almost done. There’s a revelation that I kind of want to save for another story. I don’t know if I’m gonna write that other story, though, so there’s that.

Not included: a throwaway line about gator-spirits that makes me want to write an entire story around the concept. A deep country elf with a gator-spirit buddy, off fighting magical crimes. Kind of like Silver John, only I wouldn’t try to duplicate any of the accents.
