The “I don’t give a darn this looks GREAT” THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE WAR OF THE ROHIRRIM anime trailer.

It also looks like THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE WAR OF THE ROHIRRIM has squeezed a lot more juice out of the source material than THE RINGS OF POWER could be bothered to. I am an absolute sucker for Rohirrim-related stuff, and I will totally see this in theaters. And, shoot, even the Mûmakil are defensible additions.

I’m fine with that. Partially because I do watch at least some anime: but also because it means that THE WAR OF THE ROHIRRIM won’t be filled with ugly characters. I’m not impressed with the current aesthetic for Western-style animation, to put it mildly. Right now, anime is simply the best stylistic choice for an animated Lord of the Rings project.

I was going to wax a little wroth over the concept art (found here) for THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE WAR OF THE ROHIRRIM, but then I looked up Helm Hammerhand. It is in fact correct that Helm faced a combined force of Dunlendings, Umbar Corsairs, and Easterlings, which would make the Mumakil there at least defensible. And since this show is going to be anime, I can’t really fault them for putting a war elephant in the concept art.
