…and lets him retreat gracefully, while saving face:
Alderman Joe Moreno has relented and said he now will allow Chick-fil-A to open in his Chicago ward. Earlier this summer, Moreno had attempted to block the company after decrying president Dan Cathy’s comments in support of traditional marriage.
According to Moreno, he’s giving in because Chick-fil-A has now released a memo entitled “Chick-fil-A: Who We Are,” which reaffirms that they “will treat every person with honor, dignity, and respect–regardless of their beliefs, race, creed, sexual orientation and gender.” The language in this document almost exactly mirrors a statement Chick-fil-A had placed on its facebook page on July 19, prior to any of Moreno’s actions.
In other words: Chick-fil-A repeats something that they already said; Moreno declares victory; and everybody pretends that he won. You know, I’ve played this game, actually… with my kids. Although my eldest is better at it than Moreno was.

PS: As you can tell from the above: personally, I wouldn’t have been as nice… and yes, this would be a personal failing on my part. Nobody ever said that being a Christian was easy.
PPS: Thank God that this stupidity is over. Having people like Moreno on my side when it comes to SSM is deeply embarrassing.
I may have to go get some celebratory waffle fries and a chocolate shake. Those I can eat….

Actually, it sounds like CFA did cave.
We have big assertions by a Chicago Alderman and “The Civil Rights Agenda” , but curiously no primary sources with an actual statement from Chick-fil-A or the Winshape Foundation. There are also, of course, backhanded slaps about “political” and “anti-gay” organizations.
The infamous “Rachel” video certainly suggested no such hostility.
