I’m invariably told that I’m not allowed to do these sorts of songs, you know. Which is what makes it fun.

I think it’s interesting how this has become a song for getting all pumped up about patriotism and our beloved country, in spite of the depressing lyrics.
Sprinigsteen was pretty pissed about that, Wombat-socho…

At one point, he did a live-acoustic version as almost a dirge….I don’t think it sold nearly as well, though!

Always hated this album. Last one I bought of his.
Why don’t you post his “Let’s Go Forward With Obama!” song with this, kind of like a ‘Where Are They Now?’ kinda thing?
Kind of OT, but did you ever get your song picked out that you were going to sing? ‘Cause I thought it ought to be “Never gonna give you up” or whatever the rickroll song is called.
Time for this rat*bastard dumb*azz washed*up hipster Springsteen to get off the stage! Never could stomach his crappy Joisey tunes….
Countrydoc, I think I hung in there until “Tunnel of Love”, but after that I got tired of his whining and stopped listening.
