So I think that they just made Amazon Associates linking LESS useful.

Used to be when I generated a link, it would create HTML that had both the link

http://www.amazon.com/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ll2&tag=webloglicenti-20&linkId=42e28eccdf13841580909e41fdaf7762

and the text to the link.

Amazon.com.

Now it just generates the link.  I can understand having an option where you can just have the link; but why would they take away my ability to create the text at the same time? It’s just giving me a bit more work to do.

Grr. This is not a great time for experimentation, Amazon. It’s just not.

  1. That’s odd. Usually big consumer-facing companies tend to make things easier for regular folks at the expense of web developers and designers, rather than the other way around (which is to say that I’d always prefer to have just the link).
