I picked The Main Enemy: The Inside Story of the CIA’s Final Showdown with the KGB up a couple of days ago; I’m assuming that what it’s about is right there on the label. I’m looking forward to getting into it. I always do enjoy a good story about how the forces of Good finally cornered the forces of Evil in order to shove a wooden stake through the latter’s heart*.

*I actually would not like to say that the Soviet Empire died with dignity and resolve; so it’s a good thing that I don’t have to, hey? Hell, let me go drink to that. If it’s always appropriate for the British to toast their Sovereign, then surely it’s never unacceptable for an American to raise a glass to the thought of the Soviet Union rotting in whatever Hell evil nation-states might find themselves.
