  1. My kids take excessive delight in watching me play video games.
    With running commentary.
Comparing me to various streamers (in an uncomplimentary fashion).

    Yay bedtime.

  2. The only time I watch people play video games is the promotional stuff put out to show the new features in coming expansions. And even then I mostly roll my eyes at their hilariously bad efforts.

    1. There’s a use when it comes to guidedangit puzzles and collectibles.
(Which beats the heck out of paying Sierra for a colorful booklet and a piece of red cellophane!)
      .
This is especially true in multiplayer games with cooperative puzzles, most people have the teaching skill at default.

    2. The main reason I don’t watch other people play video games. I’m particularly fond of strategy games, which generally have a reasonably steep learning curve. I hate it when the people working for either the developer or publisher play like they have about as much experience as the people waiting for the game to come out.

Conversely, my favorite developer/publisher (Paradox Interactive) has hired some of the more skilled streamers of their games, the guys that can exploit every mechanic in the game to do absurd things on youtube. So, thats fun.

  3. Having been unwillingly exposed to “game-streamers” due to the presence of the unholy demon-spawn niece .. what they seem to be doing is telling a story (badly written, badly acted) using the videogame as a medium.
    .
(think Red vs. Blue, only .. by vapid Cali-teens desperate for self-promotion, but nearly devoid of talent or imagination .. and oh my socks the endless vocal fry!)

p.s. for those who believe in deities, is it wrong of me to want to ask them to speed up the day L.A. falls into the sea?
