Because Apple Corps is inept at adapting to change.
Because the remaining Beatles want a guarantee of restitution from EMI for every copy of their works that makes it out onto P2P sharing sites.

Oh, and they released a limited run of thumb drives with their entire catalog in 44kHz FLAC and 320kbps MP3s. Oy.
I thought it was because Michael Jackson owns the song rights?
They released the Beatles Rock Band, so they aren’t quite as shy as they used to be about releasing their music. I know there was an Apple vs Apple trademark dispute for a long while, but I understand that’s been resolved…so I don’t know what the hold up is either.
