Shaun of the Dead isn’t precisely my first choice. It’s just that my first choice was going to be an alternate history flick: there are very few alternate history flicks that I have seen; and pretty much all the ones that I have seen are crap. So… Shaun of the Dead.
And adieu to The Muppet Movie.
What was the alternate history flick?
Originally? Watchmen: but I did it as MotW already, and it… lacked something that I’m told was redressed in the Director’s Cut. There aren’t that many of ’em, really: Philadelphia Experiment 2, Fatherland, Six-String Samurai… OK, that last one was pretty good.
I can enthusiastically recommend <a href="It Happened Here, Kevin Brownlow’s 1966 film about a successful Nazi invasion of England, featuring a number of actual former English fascists as talking heads.
Ken: that rings a bell. Sort of like Newman’s The Glimmer Man, right?

Shaun of the Dead is quite simply high cinema at its finest!
