Via @SissyLewis comes this question from Salon:
Ooh, ooh! Pick me! Pick me!
A: It’s because they do stupid [expletive deleted] like this!
I mean, my wife’s a lot less political than me – and her first reaction there was One of these things is not like the others.
One of them confronted the flaws in American society and challenged us to do better. The other two demanded we abandon what has worked in order to give more power to the government.
Maybe it’s that pesky individuality we have as Americans instead of blindly embracing everything our “betters” want us to? Or perhaps they just haven’t given the right speech yet.
That pic is pretty insulting to MLK and his memory. No matter what you think of his politics, he was a man of undoubtable personal courage: he spent years under threat of death and eventually was assassinated.
That pic is even insulting to FDR. No, I don’t like him either, but the difference between him and Michael Moore can be measured in light-years. (Of course, a large part of that is because Michael Moore can be measured in light-years. But I digress.)
Actually, the picture answers the question. The heroes of the left have gone from a President who successfully fought a two front war to a civil rights leader to loud mouth gasbag of a self-aggrandizing film maker. The heroes of the left are declining in their level of importance to the world and that says it all.
BECAUSE.IT.DOES.NOT.WORK
Sheesh. At some point we’re just going to have to start shooting the oblivious ignorami, and that will be too damn bad, because it’ll be hard to tell when to stop.
Regards,
Ric
MLK was a Republican. He wasn’t a lefty. Republicans have been the party of civil rights since it elected it’s first President, Abraham Lincoln. Nobody ever believes me, but is historically accurate to say that there would be no civil rights issues in America if it were not for the inherent racism of the democrat party. All of the bugaboos that they use to scare ignorant voters such as: Slavery, KKK, Jim Crow laws, Segregation, etc, are actually Democrat party policies and programs. Why else do you think Republicans do so well in the south, when it used to be controlled by Democrats since the civil War?
