Ace of Ace of Spades HQ, noting something that I wholeheartedly agree with:
I don’t know what kind of President [Mitt Romney would] make (or that any of them would make).
But there is something to be said just for driving President The Constitution Acted Stupidly out of office, and giving the People’s House back to the people. The real people, not Obama’s coalitions of red diaper babies, crytposocialists, black-bandannaed anarchists, academic parasites, union goons, and welfare state clients.
There is a lot to be said about it, in fact. I had no patience for teach-the-GOP-a-lesson even back in 2006 or 2008: and now that I’ve seen what the Democrats will do when they control the legislature and executive branches of government, I have even less. It’s a great theoretical argument, but as a practical matter it puts the government in the hands of people who think that it’s constitutional to make you buy health insurance. So until it doesn’t…
Moe Lane
PS: Third parties also put the government in the hands of people who think that it’s constitutional to make you buy health insurance.
PPS: Yes, well, if it was an easy problem to solve then we would have fixed it by now, actually.
Moe they didn’t stay home to “teach the GOP a lesson”, they stayed home because Republicans never gave them a Reason to vote For Them. When your only argument on why people should vote for your party is the other party is worse, your going to lose. People simply won’t come out, even now, and it gets depressing watching them sit home. When both your choices are bad the simplest thing to do is not to choose.
Catseye: the problem is that 2008 was a choice between Bad and Worse. As 2012 will be.
And as I have pointed out before O’bama has front loaded the train of disasters for this year. He will not be able to run, he will not be able to hide they are all going to fall on him! So why in the Hell do Republicans want to nominate such a weak candidate as Romney? Someone who inspires neither confidence or faith. I can fight to the death, but I want to Fight For Something! In the end Romney doesn’t supply it. Sorry.
So which candidate again thinks that it’s not constitutional to make you buy health insurance? That wouldn’t be Obama, it wouldn’t be Romney, and it wouldn’t be Gingrich. That issue’s dead now.
Basically, we’re screwed, we’re only voting to determine who’s going to do the screwing, and who’s going to get the blame for what happens.
… and now that I’ve seen what the Democrats will do when they control the legislature and executive branches of government …
Give this abominable clown another four years in office, and the Democrats will control the Judicial branch, too. Or don’t Supreme Court appointments matter to the folks who want to “teach the GOP insiders a lesson.”
The choice is going to be between a crap sandwich and a crap sandwich with botulism and arsenic sprinkles. One will merely make you sick … but if you go for the other one, you’ll find that there are worse things than being sick.
