Yeah, I get a chuckle out of that picture every time.
And the saddest part? At the time that was taken, most of the country probably thought those prices were ridiculously high.
It’s worse in Die Hard…when Al comes out of the mini-mart to look east along Olympic Bl. at the “Nakatomi Tower”, the crane shot encompasses the gas price sign showing 78 cents for regular.

There’s a dead gas station at I-75 and Windy Hill here in Cobb County where the dead tall sign only has the capacity to show gas prices up to 1.99.
