Hey, Bundle of Holding is doing Mutants & Masterminds.

Was that one any good?

…What?  I haven’t played every roleplaying game in the universe.  And do you know how much some of this stuff cost?  Especially when I was younger, and hella poorer?  I apologize for liking food, clothing, and shelter, sorry.

  1. I haven’t played it, but I’ve had a few friends who were fanboys of the system.
My nutshell takeaway: It’s a system you’ll either love or hate.
    .
If you think the problem with most Supers systems is that they aren’t class/level based, and the power levels of the PCs are too equivalent, then this is the system for you.

The combat works as well as you’d figure a spin-off of the D&D system would. With most of the same intrinsic system weaknesses and strengths you’d expect.
If you’re going to run a combat-focused game, it’s one to consider. It won’t bog down like Hero can, and doesn’t have the Wild Talents potential for abuse.
If you’re going to be more focused on the soap opera the genre often is, a different system would be better suited.

    1. Erm… M&M was never class & level based (I mean, maybe you can argue that PL = level, but that’s a stretch), most of the D&D-isms died with 2nd edition, and the rest were pretty much killed off with 3rd.

Can’t really say how it plays in person though; it’s one of many games I own the rules for but have never found a group to sit down at a tabletop and play.

      1. Never played M&M, but D&D 3.5 is extremely fun, I’d say 4th edition is a walking disaster area, but that’s besides the point.

My current charecter is a Strongheart Halfling Favored Soul of Shandekul (sp?) that carries two great swords (can only wield one at a time, but whatever). I’m the healer of my party. Low wisdom score (which means my offensive spell capability because it is easier for someone to resist my spells), but it’s a very effective character.

It’s too bad we don’t live in the same area Moe, I think it would be interesting to have you in the same party.
