If you are extremely upset about tonight’s unexpected (and curiously circumscribed*) immigration speech by Barack Obama, may I suggest doing something practical about it?
Step 1: don't approve Loretta Lynch as AG. Just because

I mean, I’m an immigration squish, have been one for years, and if I thought that Barack Obama could be trusted I might be inclined to take this deal. But even I know the famous line that the first step in teaching a jackass is to get the jackass’s attention.

*This was a more subtle pander to Hispanic voters than it looks. At some point, the implications of that five-year cutoff are going to sink in among progressive activists, most of whom tell themselves stories every night about how mass legalization will save them from demographic doom…
It is a waste of time for congress to pass a law that needs to be enforced. How about passing a simple bill that states that anyone in this country solely on the basis of executive action is precluded from citizenship. Obviously, later congressional action would override this provision. A second law would be to ask all new citizens to swear under penalty of perjury that they have never voted in a federal election.
I want to know why the frack millions of pissed off citizens haven’t marched down to the White House to tar and feather the lawless b*st*rd.
But even I know the famous line that the first step in teaching a jackass is to get the jackass’s attention.
Hmmm…Mellish’s Donkey and Patton’s mules come to mind.
However, you’re exactly on point…the GOP must not take the bait. They need to walk away and get down to the business of eviscerating the Prog agenda from within.
Let the Left have their Pyrrhic victory lap…they’ve learned nothing from the ACA debacle…now they own it and like Obamacare it will bite them in the ass big time.
The first question for her should be “Was the Presidents action legal”? If she says yes then you have reason to vote against. Put it on O’bama. Make it all about him, he’ll hate that.
You know what I want?
I want what Vir wanted.
I want our current President to live a long life, continually snubbed at all the most exclusive cocktail parties. And a hundred years from now boys in playgrounds across the world will argue about who has to be The Obama in their games.
This. So much this.
Let’s do better–I’d like to see the Verdict of History give him the Full Hitler Treatment, with him still around to experience every moment of his new and well and truly deserved “Unperson” status in polite society…
Ladies and gentlemen: he’s just a sh*tty, not particularly effective, President. And in just over two years he’s going to be out of power, and at that point we can all get on with the pleasant task of never again having to give a flying f*ck about Barack Obama’s opinion on, well, anything. I for one plan to learn from the negative example of the Bush-haters; every year they get more and more twisted around each themselves inside, and I have no interest in imitating them. And neither should the rest of us. 🙂
Conceded, Moe… I was just thinking the Left isn’t going to Get the Message until they have to swallow a generous serving of their own bitter “medicine.”
And ain’t that just a crying shame.
I hope, Moe, that you are correct.
.
Specifically, I hope that, unlike Jimmy Carter, who managed to remain a guilt-inducing noxious presence on the edge of the world stage, that Barack Obama simply retires to the golf course .. and *stays* there.

Isn’t it pretty to think so? But it won’t happen, because his toadies in the media will continue to pay attention to his every criticism of the following presidents, the Congress, the Supreme Court, and the United States in general. And anyone who disagrees with him — or even promotes the idea that what he says is no longer important — will be accused of racism. He’ll be granted unlimited moral authority as America’s First Black EX-President.
I want the Left to recognize this man was an incompetent buffoon.
I mean they don’t have to renounce their ideology. FDR, Truman, JFK and even Clinton had varying degrees of competence that Obama completely lacks.
I mean maybe just maybe they can come to the conclusion that nominating a person who’s political career consisted of: run for office, get elected, become bored, repeat, was perhaps a mistake.

OK, thank you, but STOP.
Count yourself lucky, Deth Specula’s “Get Even More” seems to have fallen off of YouTube.

That’s a bit much. I just want a Federal government that will leave me the {copulation} alone.

Here’s the problem with “getting even”–it actually puts you BEHIND, because of the time and labor you have to invest just to restore Status Quo Ante.
Getting AHEAD is better… personally, I prefer it to be (at least metaphorically, unlike the Left who in rare cases of candor when the masks slip DO mean it literally) the enemy’s head, on a pike.
“My fellow Americans, we are and always will be a nation of immigrants. We were strangers once, too…we are here only because this country welcomed [our ancestors] in…”
.
Yes, Mr. President. American Indians are only here because the United States “welcomed” them in.

I think you are supposed to add: classic reference!! LOL
Fine. “The world’s an imperfect place, screws fall out all the time.”

Hats off. Had to look this one up! Honestly, I do think I watched it all the way through. But that was a very long time ago and the four kids would have been from ~ 2 to 10…. good times! especially when looked at through the lens of severe sleep deprivation.
See, I like this. It’s easy, and can be done. I don’t really much disagree with what he did, but the power grab sets a bad precedent for both sides. What will democrats say when President Walker signs an executive order banning all unions for government workers, throwing all of them onto the healthcare exchanges, converts their pensions to 401k’s, and resets federal wages to the private market rates?
For the next two years, Congress should just completely ignore any and all of Obama’s “priorities”, and just pass legislation the voters actually want. He can sign it or veto it. In 2016 we’ll find out whose ideas they want to move forward.
What will democrats say when President Walker signs an executive order banning all unions for government workers …
They won’t say anything if they’re smart (although they will, of course). It wouldn’t be a usurpation of power in the way Obama’s executive order is. Government workers were allowed to join unions in the first place because of a presidential executive order — originally they couldn’t.
Moe, how will Republicans block the nomination if it occurs in the lame duck session?

Harry Reid changed the rules so she only needs 51 votes…
There should be enough procedural things they can do to stall it so can’t happen in time. Will they? That remains to be seen.
