Got enough Amazon credit for an album.

What should I get? – I’d prefer something either available in MP3, or with Autorip.  I’m honestly leaning towards Run-D.M.C. – Greatest Hits, because childhood nostalgia, but I’m willing to entertain alternate suggestions.

  1. For nostalgia, I would recommend ‘Fit to be Tied’, a Joan Jett compilation. Great stuff all around plus a punk version of the Mary Tyler Moore theme. But then I was never into Run DMC, so different tastes and all that…

  2. I see there’s a Springsteen tribute album, with other folks singing his music – that ought to at least have some folks on it who can carry a tune…

  3. Your neck needs some reddening, so consider:

Robert Earl Keen, Number 2 Live Dinner. Keep in mind that REK’s particular charm isn’t really his singing voice (which has been compared to a bull calf caught in a barb wire fence), but his storytelling.

Southern Culture On The Skids, Dirt Track Date. Rockabilly with the emphasis on billy.

  4. for something different but that you would probably like from what you post: James McMurty, Flatlanders (Joe Ely).. heartily endorse Robert Earl Keen

MY nostalgia is Aliotta, Haynes & Jeremiah, “Lake Shore Drive”
One can find it on you tube so no need to buy.
Used to listen to WLS on the AM radio that we got from sending in the tin tops from Folgers coffee.
The tuning knob came off so if one did want to change the channel, fingers would be sliced. It wasn’t really a problem because WLS was it. Larry Lujack. Also, I do think (but memory tricks) Casey Kasem on the count down.

Me, a very awkward teen, sitting on the enamel top of the cabinet next to the stove, so I would be close to the music.
