And if Rahm Emanuel’s 45.56% percentage holds up, it’s gonna be a gutter war. Admittedly, it’s gonna be a gutter war between two Democrats, but that just makes it more fun. In those cases you can just throw the verbal grenades into the room and not worry about who you hit.
Seriously, I was expecting a 48% vote share for ol’ Rahmbo. Admittedly, that was a gut call; equally admittedly, my gut can’t call Chicago elections. Go figure…
Optimism must be tempered by reality, this is only a gutter war if all Rahm’s opponents hate him more than they hate each other…

Ah, no. We know it’s going to be a gutter war, because if they were going to play nice, Rahm would have gotten “Coronated” in finest Democrat Machine fashion……
Trench warfare, acat. Trench warfare. May their battlelines be drawn, may their casualties be high, and may they pour resources into a fight like, oh, Verdun. Or maybe the Somme.
The lingering bitterness that results won’t last long enough to suit me, but it may be long enough to be useful to the new governor.
I understand the desire, but .. look, Rahm lost to a quartet – Garcia, Wilson, Fioretti, and Walls – not to a single opponent.
.
The run-off will be Rahm vs Garcia – so you’d better believe Rahm’s people are busy today working out whether Wilson’s, Fioretti’s, and Walls’s people can be co-opted. Rahm only needs one .. well, maybe 1.x in Walls’ case .. to win the run-off…
.
Rahm’s people are probably also visiting Garcia’s people asking about what kind of pay-off is needed to not push this into a runoff. There’s *lots* of graft in the Windy City .. and deals do get made.
.
Also worth nothing that the weather is miserably cold and snowy, which no doubt kept the turn-out mostly to the True Believers.
.
I’d love to see a gutter war .. it’d have the advantage of making 2016 even better for the IL-GOP .. but that depends on whether Garcia is interested in making a deal …

Did you forget to account for the dead vote breaking the Mayor’s way?
