My RedState post on the the NY Senate special election.

Found here. Short version: the Democrat won that special election, because more Democrats voted downticket in Long Island than Republicans did.  Also: the Democrats will win the state of New York this fall. And it won’t particularly be close, either.

  1. I see you’ve picked up the wishcasting from the more fevered Trumpian hordes .. “Trump makes New York competitive!” ..

Just sad, really .. Obama beat McCain and Romney 2-1 .. for New York to go for the GOP candidate would mean .. a nationwide blowout for the GOP candidate, which would mean New York *don’t matter*.

    Alas.

    1. As I’ve been saying to anyone who will listen, Trump loses Utah to Hillary, let alone New York.

      1. I freely admit that I don’t know many people living in the abomination that is NYC, but those that I do, are backing Trump. (Of course, they’re also sane Democrats who are wondering what the hell happened to their party. Which seems like an important data point, but I’m not sure how important.)

  2. While not disagreeing with anything here, is anyone operating under the delusion that Cruz–my first choice, remember–could have done as well as Trump, let alone _better_?

Let’s just keep our perspective, is all I’m sayin’.

    1. Actually, yes. Trump’s team doesn’t give two sh*ts about downticket races; I know some of the Cruz people, and they *do*.

      1. Downticket, yes, I just meant the Presidential race itself. Cruz is Kryptonite to New Yorkers.

        1. Ah. Yes, but Cruz isn’t going around encouraging people to believe that he’d somehow win NY in the general election. 🙂

          1. I am not yet convinced he can’t. I mean, I think it more likely he can’t than he can, but I’m not willing to rule it out. He was Kryptonite to everyone who attacked him so far. Maybe he can be Hillary’s Kryptonite, too.

          2. We need to forge him a sword right out of the high fantasy books named “Truth”. Maybe it’ll have a real world effect on Hillary.

Barring that, it’s a joke that most of us (and Cruz himself) would enjoy.
