China, creating the ultimate incentive for solving the millennium bug, has ordered its airline executives to take a flight on 1 January 2000, the Financial Times said.
“All the heads of the airlines have got to be in the air on 1 January 2000,” said Zhao Bo, who is in charge of dealing with the problem at the Chinese Ministry of Information Industries.

      1. I remember a news tidbit out of China in the late 80s, where a bank official was convicted of embezzling a large sum of money and sentenced to a lengthy jail term. He appealed to their Supreme Court on the grounds that the sentencing was inappropriate. The court agreed and changed his sentence to death.
