Seriously, that game sets its fangs in a man. But this looks of interest:
Via 411Mania, which is wondering whether it’s gonna be anything like VtM:B. Interesting question, although I suspect that the game is going to be less “hip and sexy vampires are sexy and hip” and more “I have to eat somebody, so let me eat bad people.” Although, on reflection: gameplay in VtM:B was actually a lot more brutal than I thought that it was at the time. I mean, I was playing a quote-unquote ‘good’ vampire, and that only meant that I didn’t fatally drain anybody who wasn’t attacking me and I made people run away whenever possible. But I realized at one point that I was playing with a vampire hunter; he couldn’t really hurt me and I wanted to feed. Kind of alarming, really.
But a very fun game. They should make a sequel. …And never mind who ‘they’ are, in this context. Somebody.
With Vampire games it is all about the execution. They can give you a choice (as in The Masquerade games) or else it quickly turns into “How evil do I want to be?”
This one looks interesting from a visual standpoint (can anyone identify a time period? From the lanterns and dress choices I would say turn of the century.) A flu epidemic killing lots of people (Dishonored? The look also sets off the Dishonored vibe, without the steampunk touches of that game.) It looked like you had a “Blood” vision which allowed you to see who was healthy(?) maybe.
I dunno. Like so many other things, it all depends on how they do it.
yes, no question, VtM:B was fun, and really felt like the VtM world, loved the endings.
but did Troika ever put out a BAD game? Full of bugs? well heck yes, but BAD? and personal favorite that I REALLY want a new game in that world? Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magick Obscura. Steampunk isn’t done right too often, and steampunk + elves and ancient fading magic? Perfect.
