I need some opinions on these two phones.

Basically, it’s like this: I was one of those people who went and bought a Kindle Fire phone. And I actually like it! I don’t call anybody on it, but then who actually does that? It integrates well with my Amazon experience and that’s cool. However, it’s not supported and I’m gonna need to get a new phone soon.

Thoughts on either one of these? I don’t really speak Mobile Phone, sorry. They’re apparently both decent low-end phones: all I really need for mine is the ability to read books, check email, and read Twitter. And, sure, calling people.  And, no, I’m not going to join the Cult of Jobs on this one.  Far too expensive.

  1. Hmm. Pics won’t load for me, but my bargain-basement Android still has an Amazon widget that handles my books and music fairly well. Most of them also come with micro-SD slots if memory is an issue.

  2. I can’t see them either, but I am thinking of getting a Samsung Note 6 (or will it be 7?) when it drops next month. Or maybe a 5, if the price is right.

Nice big screen for reading, email, and twitter. Plus stylus for handwriting.

    1. Ah. figured out the problem.
      .
Disable ad blocker (if equipped) to see the phones.

      1. Ah, of course.
        .
Then one get’s what one pays for, in both phones and web content. :p

The more expensive one naturally has more memory and is a bit heavier, despite being thinner. On the other hand it offers carrier choices other than ATT / Tmobile.

Personally, I’d get the Moto, only because ATT / Tmobile don’t do so hot up here in the woods.

  3. Huh. I saw this earlier and the prices on both have increased in the last few hours. Personally, I’d go with the Moto, but I tend to use my phone as, well, a phone and the fact that it has better coverage with the different networks is my determining factor in that.

  4. I still wish Microsoft hadn’t effectively given up on Windows Phone; I liked my Lumia 920, and Windows Phone was a better-designed OS than iOS or Android. But they did, so I’ve got a fruit cult device now.

  5. Absolutely the Moto G. It probably won’t get too many updates, but it’ll work, and you can’t beat that price.

  6. I just got an unlocked Nexus 5x, 32 gig last week for $269. It was like another $9 for a new nano sim card for my AT&T network. After I spent about 30 minutes on chat with their support, I had the new phone up and running. If you’ve already got an android all your apps will automatically load when you log in with your Google account. You can get the 16gb version for $240. But really, $30 more for twice the memory is really the way to go. The camera on this thing is wonderful. It’s really lightweight and is light years faster than my old Galaxy S3. Plus, the fingerprint scanner to unlock the phone is unexpectedly the best feature ever. Especially since I sync it with my work email which requires that I set a password to unlock the phone. Now, I just press my finger on the scanner and it unlocks in .3 seconds.
