No, seriously. I’m trying to figure out how to make it super-effective, so I could use some eyeballs on it to tell me if I’m missing anything obvious. Or anything that’s not obvious, but still useful, I suppose.

So I’ve done the Patreon thing before (www.patreon.com/EnigmaticMirror). I won’t claim we were hugely successful with lots of patrons, but we did raise over $900 for our one-time campaign.
One thing that helps a lot is an eye-catching graphic. Ours was from the cover the book we were publishing.
Another thing that I’ve heard helps is lots of free content. Obviously you need to hold some stuff back, if you want people to pay for the content. But free stuff gives people a sampling, and an idea of whether they want to pay to see more (or pay just to promote). Granted, a lot of people will come to Patreon through the website, and they’ll already be getting free content, but others will come to it through Patreon, looking for campaigns to support, and they’ll want to see what you offer. You could consider cross-posting some of the content here as free content there. The Adventure Seeds might fit.
Finally, a campaign video is supposed to help. I don’t know why–I think Kickstarter has conditioned people to expect one.
The video I have, the graphic I’ve already decided is a problem, the free stuff is a good idea. Thanks.
Yeah, mixing in the stuff you put on the website under the “Patreon” tag in with the patron only stuff would both help people see what you have to offer and help people who are looking for a specific piece to find it.
I’ve looked through my bookmarks. Avoiding those sites with Patreons that you comment regularly on, the biggest site with a Patreon is Shamus Young:

Watched your video. I really don’t need to know you had 20 previous takes. I’d guess this is really not the place for extemporaneous speech.
Yeah, I think that a new video may be in order, then. Maybe I’ll try shouting “GIVE ME MONEY AND I WILL GIVE YOU ART!” at the screen, though.
Dunno, I tend to like something along the lines of “Hey, I do X. I’d like to get some money coming in regularly, so I can do more of X, and maybe X+Y. Thanks.”
But I’m not really in a position to fund anyone’s Patreon, so whatever works.
It looks very straightforward. And perhaps a bit boring.
.
I’m really not at all sure how much latitude you have to mess with the format, though. (Or even re-lable “Community” as “This Way to the Flying Monkeys”.)
There is remarkably little that I can do with the format, alas.
