PS: I’ve actually wondered from time to time why I don’t get into audiobooks. Maybe I like going back and checking the text too much? It’s hard to do that with audio. At least I perceive it as being hard.
As a general rule, I don’t like them, either.

But they’re great when you’re driving long distances.
Different parts of the brain process written language and spoken language.

I have a strong preference for processing written language over processing spoken language
.. part of it is the ability to jump back and re-read
.. part of it is I can read a *lot* faster than most people can talk .. and anyone talking *that* fast is trying to slide something by me because I can’t go back and check it ..
.. part of it is my backstory leads me to expect talking to escalate to shouting
.
I prefer peaceful reading .. and sometimes music .. to the spoken word.
