Umm…no. This is where we must disagree. Mortal Kombat is not “kind of rubbish.” It is one of the most efficient and effective B-movies ever made. I’m not saying it’s Casablanca, but it knows what it has to do, and delivers everything it needs to plus a little extra. If only more movies today did that…

The theme song, however, IS awesome.
Ok, live action video game based movies of the time: Mario Brothers (93), Double Dragon (94), Street Fighter (94), Mortal Kombat (95), Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (97), Wing Commander (99).
I’d say Mortal Kombat holds up pretty well.
Fair enough, gentlemen, although I may be prejudiced in this by the memory of Raul Julia in Street Fighter. He was one of the greats.

I read somewhere that he intentionally played Bison as if he was the hero of the movie. And yeah, it worked!
