Would this be worth letting Thanos win?

Well, obviously not.

But the basic point is correct: Marvel has an obvious way to rejuvenate the MCU, doesn’t it?

PS: There is a rumor of a possibility of a hint that Silver Surfer might have a walk-on role of some kind in Infinity War.  Not to get your hopes up, or anything.  And if that sounds like something would have leaked, well: you’d say the same of Spider-Man showing up in Civil War.

  1. Silver Surfer is not what I think of when someone brings up the Avengers.

No, I think they are hinting Silver Surfer to throw us off a Kang The Conqueror scent. If you want to retcon the Fantastic Four and/or the X-Men into the MCU, get a time traveler.

    1. Silver Surfer had a role in the original Infinity Gauntlet story. Of course, the MCU is playing out quite a bit differently, and there’s no reason why he needs to be included “just because”.

On the other hand, one of the things that happened in the original story was that every last one of our universe’s cosmic entities showed up in a vain attempt to defeat Thanos. Galactus was one of those entities. Assuming that Thanos does successfully recreate the Gauntlet (and I’d be surprised if he doesn’t before the end of the second movie), then we just might see the MCU’s version of Galactus make an appearance, along with his best known herald.
