Honest Trailers wasn’t exactly calling this one in, but they do raise an interesting point: Ant-Man and the Wasp suffers a little from our exceptionally jaded tastes, here in the tenth year of the MCU. It’s not High Cinema or anything, but it and the first Ant-Man flick are virtually pitch-perfect comic book movies. And we’re talking old-school, four-color superhero movies too, where [SPOILER] the villains are left tied up for the police in classic style and nobody dies*. Couple that with special effects that are finally at acceptable levels of ZOMG, and you have a film that glows with awesome. …In a universe of films that are glowing rather more brightly.
Still, hey, Disney’s raking in enough cash to throw me a bone or two. I’ll allow it. Especially since all the other bones have been equally tasty.
*Well… sorta. End-credits scene, and all that.
