Oh wow. Big, if true.
[Slashfilm has] exclusively learned that Marvel Studios will be producing a new television series for the Disney+ streaming service based on the popular What If comic book series. The new animated show will be overseen by Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios, but the stories will not be canon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
I’m saying ‘big, if true’ because I don’t know what nice thing I did to justify having animated alternate history Marvel episodes that might include the voices from the MCU actors. Will they be pivotal moments from the comics? Will they be pivotal moments from the MCU? Both? Don’t know, don’t care, you had me at ‘alternate history.’
So, yeah, I guess I’m getting Disney+. As if that wasn’t expected, really.
The What If comics could be quite good. There were quite a couple that come to mind:
-in one, the Avengers during an early battle break up when facing Namor teamed up with the Incredible Hulk. Thor and the others go their own ways, but Iron Man is left to face the duo alone. He enlists the help of Hank Pym, Rick Jones and the Wasp. He makes armor for all three and… I won’t spoil it. It was a good story if you can find it.
-The other I can think of is about Korvac, one of the God Like beings with his power cosmic shtick. He was an enemy for the Avengers, IIRC during one of the Team Ups.
Dang. “What If Thor Was the Herald of Galactus?”
