Sequel to The Shining, and… Doctor Sleep is certainly aware of the name ‘Stanley Kubrick.’
It’s based on the book, which I might have read? I don’t remember, actually. Stephen King and I have a complicated relationship: I liked him a lot better when he was writing books that were thumbs in the eyes of the same people who he’s since decided to ah, curry favor with. But that’s irrelevant to the issue at hand, I suppose. This doesn’t look wretched, but I have to wonder whether it can support the weight. More from the movie side of it than from the book side, of course.
I’ll pay for entertainment produced by people who disagree with me, but not those who go out of their way to tell me they detest me. Closing my Twitter account at least keeps me from running into that as often as I used to. Good for the blood pressure.
I read a synopsis of the book. A better plot than I feared would result from such an effort, at least at the high level. However, given the history of Steven King books to movies, I’ll wait for others to tell me if it’s good. I agree the challenge will be high, given the legendary status of Kubric’s film if nothing else.
