Hope Springs Eternal: another Blackadder series?

This is the merest rumor, mind you. It’s based off of a report from the British tabloid Sun, and a complicating factor here is that it’s been thirty years since the last full season. So, well: everybody’s much older, now. Which admittedly means that Blackadder can be even more sarcastic, but it’d be supposedly set in a modern academic setting, which does seem like an odd place to have the inevitable wholesale death scenes at the end.

I’d watch it, though.

I thought that was what you were referring to with the post title …

  2. Such a target-rich environment, though.
Especially if they start gleefully slaughtering sacred postmodern and intersectional cows.
    .
And hey, Rowan Atkinson is at likely at least as much American Indian as college professors Elizabeth Warren and Ward Churchill.

  3. My proposed character list:

Tim McInnerny – Assistant Dean of Diversity, Percy Percy. Non-binary.
Hugh Laurie – Assistant Professor of Philosophy; focused on post-Kantian German thinkers with funny names. Hegel, Schlegel, Fichte, Schopenhauer etc.
Stephen Fry – President Melchett. General Melchett revisited.
Tony Robinson – Baldrick the Janitor. Obviously.
Rowan Atkinson – Dean of Students.
Miranda Richardson – Visiting Professor of Horny Post-Menopausal Gender Studies.

      1. Bear with me a moment: this reminded me of occasional characters that would show up usually once a season, such as Lord Flashheart. Which, sadly, reminded me that Rik Mayall is dead; but then I remembered that Ade Edmonson is alive. I confirmed with Wikipedia that he in fact is, and learned that he now does music. Music of a variety that is sure to make Moe happy to hear.
