It’s a mix of live-action and CGI, which is maybe what they would have done with the first Lady and the Tramp if they had the tech for it. Only maybe: I’m not sure when Disney was really capable of suchlike things. But I can sort of see an artistic reason for wanting to remake this one.
I mean, sure: they want to make another mint off of this movie. That’s the prime reason for the remake. But the rationalization isn’t so bad, this time.
Back when the original came out (1955), Disney was pretty much all about animated movies and nature documentaries and such.
.
The hypothesis “if Disney had the tech for it” back then would require such a profound change to (among other things) the entire movie making industry, I don’t think there’s even a vaguely meaningful conclusion to be made from it.
Not sure how I feel about this. That’s part of my childhood right there.
Weird.
Uncanny valley
Again.
Still.
