Mostly, today I learned of the giant spike trap that lies in wait for unwary people who think, “Surely you can have Kindle Direct Publishing fulfill your Kickstarter tiers for you! No need to worry!” …I am a naturally unwary person; but I am married to someone who checks things out ahead of time, and thanks to the power of matrimonial osmosis I have picked up the occasional urge to schedule my worrying for when it might actually do me some good.
Turns out that was smart of me. Basically, if I want to offer Print on Demand via Kickstarter using KDP, I gotta order the books from KDP and mail them out myself. …This is not happening. At least, it’s not happening at a tier where it makes any rational sense whatsoever to do this. I will instead put up something to the effect of ‘Hey, if you want a PoD version I’ll put up a link to the Amazon site once it’s ready.’ Fortunately, I wasn’t particularly counting on the PoD tier to fund the KS at the base level, and sending e-copies I can do myself.
Yay, boring stuff!
