My mini-review of DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: HONOR AMONG THIEVES.

Short version: it’s a good fantasy movie in its own right. As a D&D flick it’s freaking platinum.

Slightly longer version: DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: HONOR AMONG THIEVES has a good cast, excellent player-character banter, an actual understanding of the Forgotten Realms campaign setting, and a plot that ticks along nicely. It could stand on its own (and probably will). As a TTRPG movie? Well, I’m so used to grading on a curve with those, I’m not sure how to treat one that doesn’t need to have allowances made for it. This was a fun movie. My wife and I laughed our way through it.

PS: Not to nag, but 5th edition D&D needs a Forgotten Realms sourcebook. Somebody, get on that.

My wife, who legitimately laughs at me when I return from D&D sessions and asks me not to describe the in-game events (lest she think less of me in the process) actually 1) requested we go see it 2) LAUGHED A GREAT DEAL 3) declared it “really good for what it was”.

I… I don’t think there’s much higher praise for it?

Me, I was laughing *throughout* the whole thing. It was pretty well perfect.
