The Claudia Christian’s Musketeers vs. Cthulhu RPG Kickstarter.

Note the name: Claudia Christian’s Musketeers vs. Cthulhu RPG. When it comes to marketing, Nightfall Games knows what they’re about. I am not so much part of the target demographic as I am contentedly living in its bullseye. Oh, and I asked, so that you don’t have to: it’s ethically sourced. They’re printing it in either England, or Lithuania.

PS: The comic book series that the Kickstarter is based off of is apparently upcoming. I have no more information about it, but would love to hear some.

  1. On the one hand, it’s the perfect time and place to set a Lovecraftian nightmare.
    You’ve got the deadly decadent court, where courtiers are actively poisoning and practicing black magic against each other.
    You’ve got Paris, with the catacombs, the cobblestones slick with (fecal matter), the rivers as open sewers, and the great unwashed crowded closely.
    You’ve got madmen running around wanting to see the world burn in the coming Terror. (And Murat’s “skin condition” practically hands us license to fudge his age—and everything else about him.)

    On the other…
    Dumas just doesn’t thematically work with Lovecraft. Contrived coincidence as a main plot driver cannot happen in a setting that’s indifferent to humanity. Nor can determination overcome all obstacles in such a setting.

      Conan and Bran Mak Morn beg to differ. Granted, the result becomes more Howardian than Lovecraftian but the overall result should still be satisfactory to those in touch with their inner Hyborian. 🙂

  2. Fun fact about Lithuania –

    the Diplomatic Corps acted as a government in exile for 50 years from 1940-1990 due to Nazis then Commies.
    For the last 10 years they had to borrow money from Latvia to operate since they spent all the gold and currency reserves in the US.
    Those loans would have been unnecessary if national deposits in other countries were available. However, England and Sweden had GIVEN THE LITHUANIAN GOLD TO THE RUSSIANS and France and Switzerland JUST KEPT IT, claiming ‘secrecy laws’.

    Also, Lithuania repaid their Latvian debts in 2005.

    Conclusion – the Allies and Neutrals from WWII are useless, cowardly, backstabbing fucks. The US’s natural friends are in the East and the Baltics, you know, other nations that have actually fought oppression and occupation.
