In the Mail: The ‘King In Yellow’ Tarot deck.

Man, I had forgotten I had even ordered this sucker. It was part of a Delta Green Kickstarter from – was it before the pandemic? Yeah, it was from before then; and let this be a lesson to all of us. Don’t promise what you don’t actually have.

Which reminds me; I need to get working on stuff so I can keep the wheels of my own Kickstarter grinding…

PS: I don’t perform occult rituals, Tarot cards don’t work anyway, and both the Cthulhu Mythos and the King in Yellow are made up. I’m not worried about having this game prop in my house, although it is giving me an idea for a horror story, down the line.

  1. Heh.
I thought about running a campaign with a custom (The Fool is Azathoh, The Empress is Cybele, etc.) cursed tarot deck as the McGuffin a bit over a decade ago. I made it a mashup of CoC, UA, and Clarke’s “Childhood’s End”, and kludged the UA Sanity rules (and Cherries!) into the BRP.
In the end, I decided it was much too horribly unfair to throw players into.

I lost most of the files when my autistic kid smacked some magical combination of keys and wiped an entire directory, but I still have the major arcana cards list. (Also the image files to print the deck. But those programs have gotten much better in the meantime (for instance, the font is not the same size on all the card titles, and that BOTHERS me) not to mention that I swiped most of the images in the first place.)

Let me know if you want to mine them for inspiration.
