Marvel still overestimates how many TV/movie projects it should do a year.

This is not even a good idea: it should be a reflexive one. “Disney CEO Bob Iger has offered an update on Marvel Studios’ new movie and series rollout plan. They will now release no more than two to three movies and two shows per year.” …They frankly should go back to one. One movie or TV show per year, and the studio gets to pick.

It gives me no joy to say this: I like Marvel movies. But they need to cut their production back to a point where we’re not getting results that are all over the board. Same goes for Star Wars — or, hey, just stop entirely, wait five years, and start over?

I know, I know, I’m quite the comedian. Still. It’s the smart play.

  1. They have reached the “overproduce (overharvest / overfish)” stage.

Next stop – “appeal to the completists”.

    Mew

  2. They should just do the Dazzler movie and call it quits. Once they get to Dazzler, that means it’s over.

  3. What they’ve done to the upcoming Blade movie and Daredevil show prove that they are incapable of creating anything (outside of Reynolds-curated content) that will sell.
    Make it zero per year.
The sad Superman photo doesn’t give me much hope in Warner either.
