Tweet of the Day, This Is Vaguely NSFW – But Is It INAPPROPRIATE? edition.

I mean. It’s a statue of Bacchus. I don’t actually know what the god’s old rites were, but I am somehow confident that doing a ‘bump and grind’ happened from time to time. Particularly if alcohol was involved.

  1. Classic Mythology being Classic Mythology I wouldn’t be surprised if Bacchus appreciated the offer and took her up on it. 🙂

  2. She didn’t rip anyone’s head off afterwards, so things ended about as well as possible.
But I certainly understand why the locals would want to discourage behavior. Maenads are seriously bad news.

  3. If you’re going to embrace Bacchus, you’re stuck with the rest of it, as Luke alluded to. That means, ladies, that it’s all fun and games until Zeus takes a fancy to you. And even that might be fun, until Hera finds out. As I recall, there aren’t many “And they lived happily ever after” stories in the Hellenic mythos.
