Working on my SCA heraldic device.

It turns out my name got registered years ago, and I completely forgot. It’s long since past time I actually did my actual device. This is what I’ve tentatively come up with.

…Yes. But is it hideous enough?

    1. I was initially thinking the giraffe silhouettes need to be two-tone with some obnoxious color, but I think a hot pink stripe would work better.

Although I vaguely remember there was some rule that colors couldn’t go on colors- you had to alternate colors and “metals”. Then again, it’s been about three decades since I last looked up those guidelines.

  1. You’re missing a chance for some marketing, here. Put a flying koala on that bad boy. It would be shameless, yes. But people are going to remember it.

  2. Quarter the giraffe heads with silver. Then make the upper right and lower left a garish version of the Maryland cross.
    .
Or, to make it fit the rules better, swap the green for silver and quarter the gold with that green.

  3. If you could find a way to add the blink tag to the heraldry, it would definitely increase the level of hideousness.

  4. For more visual offense, remove the parallel lines of the grid. Nothing radical, just off by 3 or 4 degrees a few times to be oh so subtly wrong.

Unless that’s to subtle, that is.

    1. The unofficial herald of my household is in the process of convincing me to tone it down to something that can actually pass the College of Heralds. 🙂
