Star Wars will break your heart, Henry Cavill.

Look, Henry – I am taking advantage of our shared identity as gamer geeks to use your first name – I understand that the opportunity to be in a Star Wars movie is a strong temptation. And that it’s a opportunity that you might never get again. Still. You remember what happened with The Witcher, right? And the DCU? And the Warhammer 40K project… actually, what did happen with that project? I never heard.

Anyway: “A new rumor from industry scooper MTTSH is now claiming that Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, The Witcher) has had discussions with the studio about possibly taking a role in the new trilogy.” This is a tainted fruit, Henry. I mean, you’ll make a ton of money off of it and people will absolutely be on your side when you start fighting the studio, but… will you really be happy with how it all plays out?

I’m just asking, dude.

  1. Seems like the odds are pretty good those movies never get off the ground. Take whatever earnest money is offered and run, I guess.

  2. Most of the information about the WH40K project is from anonymous leaks. Nobody involved is talking much.

The option expires soon (like January), so if it isn’t actively being filmed within the next few weeks, the project is dead.

The rumor is that Amazon was demanding female Astartes. GW offered female Custodes as a compromise. Which Amazon did not accept as nearly enough, and after the blowback from fans over the Custodes goat rodeo, GW decided it wasn’t going to commit seppuku.
