The Oscars were exposed as a marketing scam and political virtue-signal fest years ago, especially since they went to 10 nominees, to the point where I use it as a contra-indicator of quality absent other information – i.e. if no one I know vouches for you and you crow about your awards or nominations, I am much less likely to take a chance on your product due to the award taint.
