…and wondering if the CCA has a genre fiction category.
I mean, the math checks out. $500 + (500 [number of bribees] x $8 [cost to print, package, and ship a book]) = $4,500. If even only a quarter take the bribe, 125 x 20 (absolute minimum sales from their pay-for-play linking) x $3 (profit from a book) = $7,500. Worth it*!

*Yes, absolutely immoral and I’m not going to do it. But, cashwise? Worth it!
I don’t know…the person who does that and wins will never know if the work was actually good enough. The price is way too high, as far as I’m concerned. It might make sense economically, but if you’re going to sell your soul, at least make it a little more expensive than 7500 dollars.
Then again, I never was a very good businessman.
Didn’t they have a big argument about all of this during the DJ pay-for-play scandals, way back when? I should find a book on that, actually. It sounds like a worthwhile topic to read about.
