How Monopoly rescued WWII POWs.

Via @alexthechick, this is a true story: Monopoly really did smuggle escape supplies in to POWs.

The most amazing part? They actually kept their mouths shut about this for sixty years. Even after the war ended! I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen a bunch of articles confirming that.

  1. Its a great story to be sure, but it was certainly not a secret for 60 years.

I first encountered the details in a book from 1969 called Escape from Colditz which was sort of a Hogan’s Heroes/ Great Escape tag on publication about real uncagable prisoners.
