People ask me – usually rhetorically – When’s the last time you’ve ever seen a Lefty who likes the Second Amendment?… and then they look shocked when I blink and say Umm, last Saturday? Seriously, join the SCA and you’ll end up seeing every counterculture fusion there is. Gun-toting hippies. Neo-pagan Republicans. Women who might think that your science fiction jokes are funny.
Plus, there’s beer.

Gun loving hippies? Sure, seen those.
Neo-pagan republicans? Some of my best friends are neo-pagan republicans.
Women who might think that your science fiction jokes are funny? Right over there, next to that unicorn….
I remember meeting Joe in San Antonio at the 1997 Worldcon. Great guy. I’m pretty sure this is one of the songs I heard him perform there. The jam sessions he had with Heather Alexander and others were incredible.

Joe Bethancourt is an extremely accomplished musician and a legend in Arizona for some 40 years.
“He plays no less than 65 different instruments; from his beloved banjos (yes. plural! He has one of the finest collections of antique banjos in the Southwestern United States, and uses them on stage!) to 12-string guitar, all the way to more exotic things like 6-course Cittern, Celtic harp, Lute, and Ozark Mouthbow!”
