OK, now that I can actually see this Daily Caller article I’m not sure that I buy it:
At the urging of Valerie Jarrett, President Barack Obama canceled the operation to kill Osama bin Laden on three separate occasions before finally approving the May 2, 2011 Navy SEAL mission, according to an explosive new book scheduled for release August 21. The Daily Caller has seen a portion of the chapter in which the stunning revelation appears.
…largely because I have a definite dislike of anonymous allegations, particularly when they’re not backed up by any other evidence. I find it at least mildly difficult to believe that people would have been able to keep this a secret for this long; this isn’t the Bush administration, which means that there’s no inherent loyalty there. It’s not impossible, but I am definitely wary of any unsourced allegation that happens to reinforce my already low opinion of this administration.
“I am definitely wary of any unsourced allegation that happens to reinforce my already low opinion of this administration.”
I agree, but I don’t disbelieve it, either. It isn’t as though it’s an implausible scenario, now is it? This administration has all ready plowed through the cellar floor of competence and deep into the earth, and is busily dynamiting the bedrock to go deeper.
If it is true, the tell-all next year are going to be absolutely delicious.
C’mon, the “professional” press has turned stories with thinner sourcing into weeks of headlines and leading stories.
Yeah, this seems suspiciously detail-free. If events #1, 2, and 3 were “VJ: Please, Obama–don’t hurt ’em! BHO: Well… OK.” Then what happend that #4 was any different?
This sounds like information made public a year or so ago. It might be true, or might not — “sounding plausible” is attractive but not sufficient.

This story is backwards. VJ wanted a go on attempts #1 through #3, but O talked her out of it.
Then what happend that #4 was any different?
Leon Panetta got fed up, did an end-run around both of them, and maneuvered Obama into endorsing a fait accompli.
