No word yet whether they’re going to clean, fumigate, or sterilize his office. Assuming that they just don’t evacuate it and clean out the fetid hole with a thermite grenade, of course. I’m not sure if they should go that far, though: it might destroy any evidence that might be buried at the bottom of the muck.
As you might have guessed, I am not fond of Jim Moran. My morning is thus made:
Senior appropriator and progressive stalwart James P. Moran will step down at the end of this year, making him the third House Democrat in just three days to announce his retirement.
The 12-term Virginia lawmaker will announce his decision in a Wednesday morning statement obtained early by CQ Roll Call.
Dear God, but the things this man got away with because he was a reliable progressive. Anti-Semitism. Corruption. Military-bashing. Violence towards children. Spousal abuse (and guess what about his kid?). He’s been on my list* for freaking years, and I look forward to crossing him off of it. With any luck, Moran will retire to a monastery and spend the rest of his life apologizing to God.
He won’t, but he should.

*Interestingly, after this cycle we’ll be down to Charlie Rangel, Alan Grayson, and Carol Shea-Porter on said list. Of them: Shea-Porter is the most likely (and is pretty likely) to lose; Rangel is the most likely to retire; and Grayson is a pathetic shell of his 2010 self anyway.
Come now, tell us how you really feel about him.
I can’t: I cross-posted this, and RedState has draconian profanity rules. 🙂
Ah, but the comments on moelane.com aren’t visible on Red State and vice versa ..

Yeah, but this is your site and so you get to make the rules.
Was this an “expected” retirement?
He is the lowest of the lows and the fact that he got reelected in 2012 was sickening – but clearly reveals how “blue” Northern Virginia is.
Only ‘expected’ in the sense that entropy eventually wins all bets.
It’s not the way I wanted him to go down .. that would have involved .. nevermind, NSA reads this and might decide I’m a threat or something.

I’ll take garbage being removed by whatever means necessary.

Jim Moran is quite possibly the most vile Congressman in all of Congress, and that’s a pretty high bar to clear. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Pete Stark owned that title until he got booted out in 2012.
I think it’s a horse race between Moran and Grayson right now.
I’ll go all starry-eyed optimist long enough to hope we can start with a clean slate of “worst” in 2015.

What, no Maxine Waters or Henry Waxman on your list?
Some I prefer to keep in office and in the minority, because it’s more irritating to them that way.
