Tweet of the Day, :pointing: “Google Cow” edition.

Fun party trick: if you see a cow, and point at it while saying ‘Cow’ in just the right deadpan voice, people will automatically look to see the cow.  And once you’ve got them doing it, they’ll do it even when they’re in a completely ridiculous place to find a cow.  And it doesn’t matter if they know that you’re doing this to them.  An ex-girlfriend called the condition ‘bovilepsy,’ and I’ve spent half my life amusing myself with this particular game.

So… :pointing: Cow.

      1. I consider Twister to be proof that a movie can rise above lack of plot, character issues, and terrible acting to become a classic.
        .
        The plot is “Look, a tornado! Characters, to your vehicles! (repeat 6x)” … No, really, *that’s the plot*.
        .
        The character flaws don’t map right. They want Helen Hunt to be this force-of-nature character, aggressively driving forward *about tornadoes* but .. pulling passive-aggressive stuff about the divorce? One or the other comes across as “wrong”.
        .
        Then, there’s terrible acting .. Jami Gertz almost literally phones it in – she’s a therapist, but has less empathy than the cows .. and don’t get me started on Bill Paxton .. was he carved out of wood or something?

        And yet .. it’s so *watchable* despite itself ..

        1. Well, the production company did manage to damage Helen Hunt’s and Bill Paxton’s retinas by overlighting the interior of the truck.

          1. Ouch. That’s .. okay, it’s not *hard* to do, but it’s something that “remedial cinema” should tell you is happening.

    1. For me, the lingering foul odor is how many Dodge Ram pickups they went through. They aren’t nearly tough enough to survive half the stuff they just drove away from…

  3. It very much depends on the background of the target.
    Trying it on me would be roughly equivalent to trying to get an urbanite to react to concrete.
