Wow. @ed_kilgore & the Washington Monthly pretend that Scott Walker may not have gotten death threats.

Charming.  How utterly charming of Ed Kilgore: “Walker’s getting into a real groove in using the “death threats” he and his family supposedly received…” and you can just stop there.  You might as well: the rest of the article’s just a whine, anyway.  But isn’t it amazing how the Washington Monthly can hire a guy who is apparently deaf, dumb, blind, and incapable of using search engines?

In fact… here, Ed Kilgore and the Washington Monthly.  Let me Google that for you.

Now, I get that the Washington Monthly is a political stroke magazine for progressives.  That’s fine.  But even the sad fetishists that read it are still actual human beings; they have their dignity and they have their pride, however meager it might be.  I would scorn to lie to those people that baldly, and I don’t like them. That the Washington Monthly’s own pundits are so ready to tell the Washington Monthly’s readership the thing which is not says something extremely sad about the state of the Left these days.

I’m sorry, let me be clearer for the lurkers: This. Actually. Happened. I’d be sorry about that being inconvenient for people, except it’s not actually my fault.

PS: You may safely assume that I know that most of these threats are, by their nature, unlikely to result in a violent attack. Trust me: I’ve gotten enough of my own to know that.  But what you may not assume is that getting a low-likelihood threat is somehow equivalent to getting no threats at all.

Are these the first #occupywallstreet -inspired death threats?

The angry message demanded that Albany politicians “stop shoveling wealth from the lower 99 percent into the top 1 percent” and “set aside your ‘no new taxes on anybody’ pledge.”

The Left gets its violent responder to hate speech, after all: the only problem is, from their point of view he’s aimed the wrong way.

I started following the saga of J. Eric Fuller a couple of days ago: the short version is that he was one of the victims of the Tucson attack of last week that killed six people and nearly killed Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.  Despite the fact that the consensus is, from the President on down, that harsh political rhetoric had nothing to do with the attack (the shooter is generally conceded to have been motivated by violent paranoid schizophrenia, not political beliefs), Mr. Fuller has made a name for himself by declaring that the right wing is responsible for the attacks, to the point where he is calling for Sarah Palin’s arrest for treason.  And I was going to let all of that go: the guy did get shot*, he was a hardcore Democrat beforehand – and, honestly, Fuller didn’t sound all that much different than this fool (more here) or this fool or the fools found here (and see here for much, much more).  Free speech is free speech, even when the guy’s cynically milking the fetishes of the Left, am I right?

Except that Mr. Fuller wasn’t being cynical.  He really, truly believes what he’s been told by the netroots; which is why he’s under arrest tonight for making actual, public death threats against Trent Humphries, who was not involved with the Tucson attacks in any way, shape or form but who is the president of the Pima County Tea Party.  Mr. Humphries has, in fact, been getting death threats all week; this was just the first time it was done in a fashion that the media couldn’t ignore.

I gotta admit: I’m a bit detatched, here.

Then again, I’m a political blogger for the Right.  True, I’m not a female/minority political blogger for the Right – the Online Left will do and say just about anything to shut them up – but I’ve gotten my share of politically-motivated personal attacks.  I’m not criticizing Todd Henderson for not wanting to be a target for various progressive Two Minute Hates, but neither am I really heartbroken.  Glenn’s right: you need a thick skin in this gig.

And a way to trace the death threats, of course.

PS: Generally speaking, the way to engage people that react in the way that they reacted to Henderson is to… not do so.  They’re just trying to distract their opponents: so step on them in places where you have the power to step on them and ignore them utterly in places where you can’t.  Put it another way: your quarrel is with the Masters of the Hounds, not the hounds themselves.

#rsrh *Another* Democrat donor arrested for GOP death threats.

This has been just an awesome fund-raising strategy for the DNC, hasn’t it? Via Gateway Pundit, our latest brain-dead dupe of the Democratic party is one Lawrence Pidrman, 2008 donor and 2010 threat-maker:

FBI agents and representatives with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said they arrested a Spring Hill man on a charge of threatening harm against U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite.

The Brooksville Republican’s office received a “telephonic threat” on March 25 from an unidentified male, authorities said.

Late Sunday, FBI agents and Hernando deputies arrested Erik Lawrence Pidrman, 66, in connection with the threat. The charge involves “threatening to assault or murder” a U.S. official, according to FBI Special Agent Dave Couvertier.

So we got this. We got the New Orleans thing, which is looking a lot like some of the Left’s blackshirts deciding to get some pro malo work in (vicious assault on a woman thrown in, free of charge*). And, hey, via @stoo11 it turns out that somebody threw a Molotov cocktail at Arizona Governor Jan Brewer’s (R) spokesman’s house today.  Although the police are still working out who specifically did that one, so no word yet on how much hypothetical money the hypothetical attacker hypothetically gave to Napolitano’s last gubernatorial campaign.

Yes. This angers me.  Because it’s not stopping, and it probably won’t stop until something happens that makes it impossible to ignore nationwide.  And the people who are encouraging it don’t seem to care that they’re playing with mercury fulminate.  Because they want to raise money, and all of this is just an unfortunate by-product of the procedure.

NEW ORLEANS — An African-American man from Mississippi admits posing as a white supremacist to send a death threat across state lines by Facebook.

This isn’t getting said often enough, apparently, so let me: if you simply must racially demagogue, find actual examples of racial demagoguery instead of creating your own.  If you won’t do that out of the simple human desire to avoid making things worse for everybody else, then don’t do it because you’ll get caught.  Usually within days.

Because you aren’t as smart as you think that you are.
