The absolutely vital Fallout 4 mod: “Old World Radio – Boston.”

Found here. It’s huge, but it’s worth it: the ‘Old World Radio – Boston’ mod adds a lot more music, both to Diamond City Radio and  whole bunch of other radio stations to tune into.  A variety of genres, ranging from bluegrass to kind of silly – but possibly the best part are the science fiction and horror radio programs. This is the mod that got me listening to X Minus One, and it is ABSOLUTELY VITAL that you listen to a few episodes of that show before you die.  Unless, of course, you don’t like vintage Robert Heinlein or something.

Two weeks to Fallout 4’s Far Harbor.

Looks like we’re going to Maine!  …Whereupon it will, in accordance with standard practice, be firmly but inexorably put under the command of the Queen of the Girl Scouts*.  Because apparently the ability to pick things up on one’s own was somehow bred out of the human race…

Drops May 19th, brothers and sisters… Continue reading Two weeks to Fallout 4’s Far Harbor.

Hey, the Fallout 4 Creation Kit dropped!

Can’t imagine how I missed THAT today.

Open beta, but I figure that that’s enough for a frenzy of modding. Lord knows half the mods I use now were made by people slavering for a chance to use the Creation Kit to fix some of their workarounds. It’ll also be interesting to see what effect this will all have on the console versions: they’ll have almost complete modding access*.

Very cool.

*Some of the more adult/graphic stuff will be effectively limited to PCs.

The next Fallout 4 DLC drops next week.

April 12th, and… I’m not so sure I approve of all of this, on an ethical level.

Also: I may not have the room for some of this stuff.  I’m kissing the upper limits of settlement development in a lot of my places as it is.

Fallout 4: Automatron drops at midnight tonight.

Well, if you’re on the PC. The other versions drop at various points. It’s available for anyone who bought the Season Pass, so if you haven’t yet, by all means:

Apropos of nothing, I think that the images and text links are worse for me than the just-text links, honestly. Or at least I suspect that these text links provide more clickthroughs.
.

You should not steal Bethesda’s content, even if they made a mistake.

I must be getting old. Twenty years ago I would have been all about encouraging people to take full advantage of Bethesda’s screw-up last night when they accidentally made available for free their Season Pass; now I’m just disappointed in everybody who took the product and ran.  I mean, I know perfectly well that Bethesda didn’t intend to do that.  That would make grabbing it anyway stealing.

And get off my lawn!

So, Fallout 4 DLC details have finally dropped.

Basically: robot-hunting and/or crafting (better than it sounds; looks like there’s going to be a robotic mastermind), critter-hunting and taming (guess I’m finally getting that Deathclaw mount I’ve been wanting), and what looks like something similar to Skyrim‘s Dragonborn expansion. This is… all acceptable for me, although what I really want is the Creation Kit.  Actually, I don’t want the Creation Kit; I want other people to have the Creation Kit, so that I might at my leisure supplement the game with entertaining and amusing mods that will allow me to keep game play fresh.

I also want a motorcycle.  This Tweet makes nothing but sense for me:

And so it begins.

I begin grabbing mods for Fallout 4. They’re making noises about doing updates and upgrades soon, and the Creation Kit will at some point become available, but the Fallout 4 Nexus is already up and running. So I might as well get those upgrades and game performance tweaks to, well, tweak. Just performance and a different Pip-Boy map display, for starters. The esoteric stuff can wait.

So now the wife has the Cough…

…I’m getting over the Cough (but not enough to drive), and the kids are in boundless-energy mode because they no longer have the Cough. This is ever so much fun and no, we don’t have the Zika virus. Completely different symptoms, and don’t think that I didn’t check.

Sorry that these aren’t exactly fascinating and/or scintillating posts or anything, but I’m not really doing anything right now except stare into space, blankly.  Every so often I load up Fallout 4 and shoot zombies with a shotgun at close range, then Stimpack my compound fractures* away.  I apparently think that this is funny. At least, that’s the excuse I keep giving myself.

PS: I don’t even know how to record myself playing these games, sorry. And doesn’t everybody else already do that, anyway?

*My unique shotgun does explosive damage. Great fun for clearing a room, but if they jump you then a point-blank hit will cripple you, too. Luckily I have all the Stimpacks…
