In the Mail: MR. JONES.

Trying to decide whether to watch it tonight, or whether I should wait until I’m in a bad mood anyway*. MR. JONES is not exactly going to be the laugh-a-minute riot that THE DEATH OF STALIN was, although I commend Hollywood for finally admitting that Stalin was a malignant bastard. No, really: if you don’t give positive reinforcement for behaviors that you like, you’ll never get any behaviors that you like.

*I can’t imagine that a movie about the Ukraine genocide is gonna be cheerful. Why waste a perfectly good mood?

On Order: MR. JONES.

MR. JONES is the one about the reporter who broke the news about the Ukraine genocide, back in the 1930s. It’s not coming out as a DVD for another couple of weeks, but you can buy it digitally now. …Or, rather, you can buy whatever version they say is the digital one now. And you never know when that determination might be subject to a sudden, retroactive change.

I know what they’re doing the MR. JONES movie about (keywords: Stalin, Ukraine, 1930s). You know what they’re doing the MR JONES movie about. But some people are going to be extremely angry when this hits the screen in April.

Fortunately, they’re not going to be people I like very much, so I’ve got that going for me.
