Clinton won’t help Olbermann muck about in AR primaries.

(Via Hot Air Headlines) I don’t know if Mediaite deliberately omitted the reason for former President Bill Clinton’s refusal to attend a Keith Olbermann-boosted ‘free clinic event.’  It’s entirely possible that the actual reason (warning: FDL link) – that Clinton thinks that the event in question is a thinly-veiled primary campaign event against Senator Blanche Lincoln (D, AR) and for Democratic Senate hopeful Bill Halter – was simply uninteresting to Mediaite, which is of course that site’s privilege.

That being said, this kind of allegation is newsworthy.  A former President accusing a more-or-less prominent Leftist television commentator of playing internal Democratic party politics with people’s health care coverage?  This should have been front and center on the site.  Heck, it should be above the fold on the New York Times.

‘Should,’ not ‘will.’

FrankJ has some not-useful advice for MSNBC.

In responding to this post FrankJ noted that the underlying problem for MSNBC is that nobody particularly wants to watch them anyway, so he offered a suggestion to boost their viewership:

Maybe if they set Keith Olbermann on fire and threw him off a building, people would tune in to see that. I’d consider it. So, that’s something for them to think about.

I am startled by this advice. Surely FrankJ is acquainted with the classics? Perusing them would have revealed the obvious flaw in this plan:

What were they going to do on Tuesday night?

I think MSNBC is trying to get the President shot at.

OK, remember last weekend, when there were a bunch of reports of armed people at the Arizona town hall? Lots of stories of bemused reporters trying to get their heads around the notion that in Arizona you can wander around with an AR-15 –

Which is not a fully automatic weapon, by the way. You can’t buy fully automatic weapons in the USA*. I mention this because this is apparently news to our journalistic class.

[UPDATE]: Welcome, Instapundit readers. If you haven’t seen the alternate universe Watchmen Saturday cartoon intro, may I suggest that you check it out?

…Glenn Reynolds is actually giving moral credit to a news organization for not memory-holing a straw poll that’s not coming out as expected.

And that’s not the sign of how far we’ve fallen: it’s that I can see Glenn’s point.  That’s just flat-out depressing.
