Orrin Hatch came prepared for the Utah caucuses.

Let tell you a parable.

Once upon a time that has not yet happened – and will almost certainly not actually happen – there will be a certain starship, with a certain Captain… captaining it.  And this starship will, as starships of that sort often do, encounter an amazingly heavy-handed metaphor in the form of two anthropomorphized black-and-white cookies determined to destroy each other.

Hold on: this has a point, I swear. Continue reading Orrin Hatch came prepared for the Utah caucuses.

#rsrh Utah caucuses tonight.

On the off chance that I have somebody from Utah reading this website… hey, you!  Yes, YOU!  Get your keys, get your (Republican) significant other, loved ones, and friends, and get thee hence to the caucus station tonight!  You have no excuse: the Utah Republican party has given you a nice, big slate of good candidates to choose from tonight… and there’s a new Congressional District at stake, so you don’t have the excuse of incumbency.

So go.

PS: What’s that? You’re not in the new Fourth, you like your incumbent, and you like Orren Hatch?  Well… go anyway.  Trust me; Hatch really wants you to show up tonight if you like him.

Really, really, really.

RS Interview: Carl Wimmer (R CAND, UT-04 PRI)

The new Fourth Congressional district in Utah is a matter of some interest to Utahic… Utahian… Utahns… umm, Republicans from Utah; and there are a number of folks competing in the primary. We talked to one of them yesterday: Carl Wimmer. Carl’s a former police officer, [former] [Oops! Fixed.] state legislator, and founder of the Patrick Henry caucus: we discussed the race generally, and his thoughts about its significance.

RS at CPAC: Mia Love (R CAND, UT-04 PRI).

We’ve spoken before: Mia is the mayor of Saratoga Springs in the new UT-04 district, and if she wins the primary she hopes to beat Jim Matheson in the general.  We spoke for a few minutes at CPAC:

Mia’s site is here.  I don’t often say this, but if I lived in this district I’d be voting for her.  Which is no reflection on the other candidates, of course.

RS Interview: Mia Love (R CAND, UT-04 PRI).

You may remember her from last week: Mia is the mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah, and is now running for the new district created for Utah as a result of the last census.  We had the opportunity to talk about the details of the district, plus her thoughts about the best way to represent it:

Introduction to Mia Love (R-CAND, UT-04 PRIMARY)

Mia Love is the current Republican mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah: she kicked off her bid today to be the Republican candidate for Utah’s new Fourth Congressional district.  Mia’s running on basic small-government principles, focusing on government being often the problem, and not the solution, to our problems.  She’s got a fairly crowded primary to deal with, and will be facing a transplanted Jim Matheson (who got redistricted out of his seat) if she wins the primary, but it’s Utah and Mia’s a pretty straightforward conservative Republican across the board.  Public defender of the Tea Party, too, and her campaign is definitely interested in grassroots outreach.

Her kickoff video is after the fold: Continue reading Introduction to Mia Love (R-CAND, UT-04 PRIMARY)

Meet Morgan Philpot (R CAND, UT-02).

Morgan is running in Utah’s Second District, which is known primarily for being the only district in Utah whose Democratic incumbent has managed to avoid suffering from his national party’s reputation. Morgan would dearly enjoy correcting that, and he spoke with RedState today:

Morgan’s site is here.
